Here to inform you about the International School of Improvisation that will take place from 2-8 July, 2016 in Verona, Italy in association with the Conservatory “F.E. Dall’Abaco” Verona and the Associazione Italiana Cultura Sport (AICS). It is a unique and exciting course on the art of music improvisation (based on historical approach) combined with the study of supporting ‘parallel’ arts/subjects which assist in opening the mind and developing valuable skills which can be adopted to improve communication strategies as a performer. The course is aimed at University level music students, but welcomes music lovers, and artists from other fields.
The course focusses on three main areas, each equally important: stylistic-historical, structural-communicative, psychological. During the course the participants learn how to improvise on their instrument, integrating the study ofmusic improvisation with workshops in rhetoric, gesture, fencing, dance, theatre and singing (contrappunto alla mente). The Artistic Director is baroque violinist Davide Monti who performs internationally as a soloist and has been teaching improvisation for many years around the world; the complete team of teachers are all renowned specialists in their fields.
There will also be numerous opportunities to perform in historical locations across Verona as the International School of Improvisation has developed a partnership with the Comune di Verona. The course was an enormous success last year and is developing into a community event.
More information, including the course brochure and application form, can be found using the following link:
We kindly ask you to forward this information to any prospective interested parties, departments and students. Please contact us if you have any queries.
yours sincerely,
Davide Monti
